The Used Bookstore at the Airport

Ever been to a bookstore in an airport while waiting for your flight to depart? Yeah, me too. Perusing the short shelves of Hudson Books. The bestsellers, the mass-market paperbacks, the magazine racks. But, have you been to a used bookstore at an airport while waiting for your flight to depart?

Unless you've been to Milwaukee's General Mitchell airport, then maybe you haven't. Next to the custard shop (mmmm. . . custard. . . ) sits Renaissance Books. This lovely shop is filled with a large selection of soft well-loved novels, books on aviation, travel, history, and much more. What a WONDERFUL way to pass time. I'd be doing this even if I wasn't at an airport.

Renaissance started as a larger outpost in downtown Milwaukee in the 1960s. The downtown location has since closed and, lucky for us travelers, the airport location still runs. So if you had certain thoughts about Milwaukee that were negative or based on stereotypes. . . hopefully this might change your mind. Just a little, perhaps?

The New York Times is hip to it too.

This place looks awesome! I'd much prefer this to the Hudson Books, though when you need reading material, you take what you can get. :)

Looks heavenly! Alas, I never go to Milwaukee!

We've had a used book store in RDU for years. I love having a bookstore with more than just the bestsellers and a bunch of magazines. It's a treat to go shopping on the way out of town.
